Welcome!

Hi to all who view this website.
My name is David T, and I am a musician and luthier. With this website, I hope to highlight my abilities and aspirations and give viewers a sense of who I am and what I hope to accomplish . . .

I specialize in Electric Bass Guitar (fretted and fretless) but also play Upright Bass (Electric and Acoustic 3/4 Bass), Guitar (Electric and Acoustic), Lap-Steel Guitar, Slide Guitar, Harmonica (Diatonic (Blues) and Chromatic), Piano/Keyboard . . . and pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I own multiple versions of all those instruments and try to play them as often as possible.

Since retirement from working “day gigs,” I have opened a workshop where I repair and customize musical instruments and design and build custom, hand-built instruments from wood blanks/slabs.

Some of my guitars and basses I built and finished from parts or rebuilt/repaired from abused/mistreated instruments, so they’re very dear to me, and I love to play them all. I will be posting new instruments and exciting projects as they occur in this blog. And I love to innovate and be creative.

I have recently joined a Blues/Rock band called The Juke Dukes. The band has been around for years and enjoys a modest following. I love playing blues bass. I get to “walk” my bass in many songs and play fun and funky music. I will post gigs as they occur. Unfortunately, many clubs are still recovering from Covid shutdowns or dealing with the ongoing Covid crisis, so that booking can be problematic.

My band, WTFK (It’s our last name initials . . . Really!), recently took an extended break while we search for a new guitar player to replace Steve White, who moved to Florida. Finding someone to replace Steve is very difficult as he was a founding father of the band back in the early 70s. So we are taking our time and taking a break from each other (we’ve done that before). Updates about the band will be posted on this website and my Facebook page.

I also am using this website to publish some of my dad’s excellent writing that he did before he died. He was in the process of trying to publish the stories as a book and was running into some serious problems with the publishing establishment. I tried to restart the process with the publisher he was working with and several others after dad passed. They all said they don’t publish deceased authors because there will be no follow-up books. “WTF! (initials, again?)” I say . . . ! The stories are wonderful, and I will let you, the reader decide if they should be published.

Thanks for reading,

David T
